Welcome to my blog!

Hello, I'm Kerry Wuthrich and I'll be leaving the USA for the first time and traveling to Kenya, Africa for a short term Mission Trip from September 23rd to October 4th, 2010! Our team of 9 will be serving at HOREC (Hope for Orphans Rescue Center) to help extend Christ's love and do whatever we can to help these children who have been orphaned by AIDS. I'm very excited and ready to do my part. As communication connections allow, I'll be posting updates throughout this journey in hopes to share what is sure to be the experience of a lifetime. A big THANK YOU you for all of your support, your prayers, and your interest in these little ones. It truly 'takes a village' as they say! I'm so glad you are all part of mine! :O)

Welcome to Kenya!

What an amazing adventure already! We flew for about 17 hours yesterday from Denver to Minnesota, to Amsterdam, then into Narobi in Kenya! Time does fly! we crossed 11 timezones. During our domestic flight we met Alice, who served with Global Hope in Romania a few years ago. Small world! Then abord our final flight I got to know two gracious native Kenyan women. They were warm and friendly. Carolyne has been in the states for 4 years. Finally, a visit home for her also brought her into my life. She has offered to teach me Kiswalli on-line when we're both back in in the USA. she knows I will love it here so much that I'll want to return so she will help me communicate better for next time. I met Jackline who works with the UN serving East and Southern Africa through a program at Columbia University. She is part of an initiative to "Mobalize the Sciences and Public Policy to Build a Prosperous Sustainable Future" I have much to learn from these two incredible women!
We were greeted at the airport by Victoria holding a sign to welcome us. once Visa's were purchased & bags loaded, Thomas and Martin brought us to a lovely Guest House for our first night's stay and dinner! A great night's sleep and I'm ready for day 1 in this beautiful new land to see what God has in store for us today!
